Shift key on a USB keyboard does not cancel the automatic logon on Windows 7/Windows 2008 R2

Symptom:

You reboot or logoff your ThinDesktop session, hold down and press the Shift key but ThinDesktop ignores the key sequence. Instead of returning you to the Secure Attention Sequence (SAS) where you can provide a user name and password, ThinDesktop logs back in and starts of the ThinDesktop shell.

Resolution:

This behavior is not by design. Microsoft has confirmed the issue as a bug in kbdhid.sys and resolved the issue in KB2526967. For resolution to this issue, please follow and apply the proper hotfix mentioned in the article below:
