After running SYSPREP on a workstation or FBRESEAL, customer may experience two application launches or connection dialogs when the machine reboots. As part of the SYSPREP or FBRESEAL process, the Microsoft shell is added back to UserInit along with the ThinDesktop shell.

TD2UserPrep is a tool that can be used to work around this issue. TD2UserPrep resets the shell configuration back to ThinDesktop. You can run:

TD2UserPrep manually after an image has been deployed or place TD2UserPrep into your image and have it run as part of a local GPO.

To run manually after image deployed, execute the two commands (admin rights required):

td2userprep /on

td2userprep /reboot

The first command places TD2UserPrep in maintenance mode and reboot performs the changes and reboots.

To execute as a GPO and place in the image:

1. Add the following as a local GPO startup script:

td2userprep /reboot

2. Before the last reboot, place td2userprep in maintenance mode: td2userprep /on.

In the case of FBRESEAL, run td2userprep /on right before you run FBRESEAL.

Note: Once TD2UserPrep resets the shell the client will reboot. We have noticied that during FBRESEAL the machine will not honor the reboot.
